Another HSI rehired annuitant announcement has been posted on USAJobs, which opened yesterday. In reading this announcement, there is no initial mention of a requirement to be within a five year window of retirement, which the prior announcement did have. This appears to open the recruitment field to a much larger portion of our membership.
Below you will find a direct link to the new announcement. This push to rehire prior government employees is happening rapidly, and has drawn a lot of questions from qualified people. There is a lot of unofficial and unverified information being shared right now about what the job responsibilities of a rehired annuitant would entail, what the salaries would be, and how your current retirement pay and benefits would be affected should you return to work.
It is important that you do your own research because each one of us will be affected differently. In order to get the most accurate information, we encourage you to read that second link I've included, and found on www.ice.gov, which addresses questions on the Return To Mission announcement for retired federal law enforcement officers, and to email the agency contact listed in the announcement should you have more specific questions.
Should you decide to apply you have our support and encouragement. Good luck to you!
