Suicide is the greatest threat among law enforcement officers, as they are more likely to die by self harm than from a line of duty shooting. More than ever, the growing resistance and anti-law enforcement stance towards officers affects their health, and they should always be supported.
The Lucas Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides access to suicide prevention, specifically in support of officers who need help. Lucas Henry Sizemore was an intern with Homeland Security Investigations before going on to serve with the Atlanta Police Department. He had a promising future with APD and perhaps as a future 1811 in federal law enforcement before he tragically passed on January 9th, 2024.
From September 24 to September 30th, 2025, the Lucas Foundation will hold the first ever Bring Them Home Relay for law enforcement; a 1,000 mile journey from Atlanta, Georgia to Detroit, Michigan commemorating Lucas' career and to draw support for officers who face mental adversity in their careers.
ACHSIA fully supports the work of the Lucas Foundation and their upcoming Bring Them Home Relay. Please help them by reading up on their mission and share awareness of this great cause through support, sponsorship, and volunteerism.
